Schedule Update

Hi, I wanted to do a quick update since I kinda laid out a schedule of how soon I thought the chapters would be done. Life’s been a bit chaotic, albeit mostly the good kind of chaos - moving back to my home town, trying to find a job in the area, and hopefully buying a house. I’m still working on the project, just a lot slower, and wanted to provide a quick update since I mentioned plans to have a bunch done over the summer and haven’t done much yet.

Titled Comic Update

A quick update on my attempted adaptation of the novel into the comic, doesn’t look like there’s any real interest in me doing so. Going forward, I think the plan will be to adapt a few of my favorite chapters and provide them for free. Again, this is a hobby; even if there’s zero interest from readers, I still had fun adapting the novel’s content into a visual medium. Just like the novel started out, I enjoy writing it, so even if I had zero readers I’d still continue.

Titled Comic

I’ve been toying with the idea of adapting this novel into a comic, and here I’m going to try to sell you on it. The novel itself will remain free to read and share as it’s been, but trying to adapt it does take time and costs money, so I’ve launched a Kickstarter to see if there’d be interest in me doing so. I’ve got a drafted adaptation of the prologue, which you can check out below to gauge if it’s something you’d be interested in:

Finishing Act 1

Well, act 1 is complete. I’ve never written any fiction before (at least beyond like since I was five), and while I’m sure anyone with writing experience could find a dozen mistakes per chapter, I’m still going to pat myself on the back a bit for finishing what’s effectively an entire novel. I don’t know exactly how many words are in chapters 0-62, but I’m guessing between 80k-90k, which is give or take novel length.

Using AI in my novel

Hold on, put your pitchforks down - outside of using Grammerly & Emacs for grammatical corrections - not a single character was generated or modified by computers; a non-insignificant portion of my first draft originating on pen & paper. No AI is weird and crazy imaginative enough to write like I do. The only successful AI contribution you’ll find is a single image, the map, which I heavily edited. This post will go over how I generated and modified an image using AI, which I believe brought some value to the work, and cover a few quick thoughts about AI towards the end.
